Centre for Environment and Economic Development (CEED) is a Research and Knowledge Centre working for the Grater South Asian Region and secretariat is based in Delhi, India. CEED starts with a broad objectives & vision to Promote Applied Research, Policy Advocacy, strategic partnership, Training& Capacity Development, Techinical skilled based Education and sharing knowledge through publication, outreach programme and partnership for sustainable and cognitive development of the Region. CEED works and promote research-based knowledge through joint research projects/programme, Skill based Techinical training, human and Institutional Capacity Development. The main objective is Knowledge based transformation and skill of the future generation with cutting age technology to achieve Sustainable Development Goal.
 
CEED evolve with a vision and mission to become a “Center of Excellence” and State of Art “International Research Academy” based on applied Research for sustainable development in Greater South Asia and Hindukush-Himalayan region to address the need based development challenges focused on Disaster Risk Management, Multihazard Risk Reduction & Resilience , Climate Change, Smart Agriculture & Food Security, Promotion Application and Market Linkage of Organic Farming in Himalaya, Natural Resource Management, Promotion and conservation of Green and Clean Energy, Urban Development & Resilience, Skill Education and training for Poverty Reduction, Environmental Managent, conservation of biodiversity and ecological balance etc.

CEED works through Partnership Collaboration and sharing knowledge with multi-level crosscutting issues of Sustainable Development, Urban Environmental Management, 3R policy of Waste Management, Climate Resilience, Socio-Economic Development, Integrated Health Management (Public Health -Environmental Health -Women & child Health) and Integrated Disaster Risk reduction with focused on Humanitarian dimension. It focuses more on need based Applied Research, skill-based training &capacity development and Its uniqueness through comprehensive Policy level research intervention and cooperation, for the long-term idea of climate smart economy and sustainable development of the South Asian and Himalayan region. Based on H2O (Highland to Ocean) Programme. CEED associated with cross cutting and interdeciplanry research programme with a wide spectrum related to arena of Integrated Water Recourse Management,(water conservation through watershed, rainwater harvesting, promoting artificial glaciers, ground water management, River basin management, overall water security WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), Public Policy, Urban/Rural Poverty and prevailing issues of Livelihood development, Capacity Development, Deprived minorities, Human Right Advocacy, Community Development and Governance in the region. The main objectives of CEED to develop applied policy research for developing a network of partnership to make vulnerable communities resilient to prevailing situation and way forward to development. CEED adopts a community-based approach, indigenous technology to empower communities through awareness, training and education. CEED from the beginning more emphasis and focus on women and child issues and dedicated for their cognitive and sustainable development.

Establishment:

Centre for Environment and Economic Development (CEED) was established in 2009 and officially working from 2010. CEED is a team of professionally trained, skilled, motivated professionals and practitioners those work dedicatedly for making into a Centre of excellence and to work on cross boundaries & cross cutting issues through its research and development, consultancy and outreach programs. All efforts of CEED are directed towards provision of cost-effective and innovative solutions to environmental and Centre for Environment and Economic Development (CEED) was established in 2009 and officially working from 2010. CEED is a team of professionally trained, skilled, motivated professionals and practitioners those work dedicatedly for making into a Centre of excellence and to work on cross boundaries & cross cutting issues on Environment, natural disaster, fragile eco-system & biodiversity, Natural Resource Management, health, education and socio-economic development in the region through its research and development, consultancy and outreach programs. All efforts of CEED are directed towards provision of cost-effective and innovative solutions to environmental and natural resource problems

Governance Structure :

CEED is a Research and Knowledge Centre comprising Researcher, Academician, Humanitarian Professionals, Development practitioners based in academic institutions, research Centers and Centre of excellences in the Regions. The CEED was formed to work on institutionalizing interdisciplinary teaching, training, research, and advocacy in the Asian region using a participatory approach.

CEED is managed by a secretariat, based in Delhi headed by an Executive Director/ President, governing body and advisory committee and consisting of members from the inter disciplinary, multi-disciplinary fields e.g. Environmentalist, Academician, Researcher, social activists, Humanitarian specialist, young entrepreneurs, women groups, Social Development Volunteers, members of civil Society, Students, doctors, ITC and skilled professionals.

The secretariat is monitored by a team of Board members, which is responsible for setting broad policy, providing strategic and policy support for a multilayer programme of activities, determining research priorities and approving annual work programmes and budgets. CEED (Centre for Environment and Economic Development) is the legal entity registered under National Registration Act. XXI 1860 and officially working from New Delhi India. Recently CEED modified its legal entity to become a Regional Research Centre for Greater South Asia with a vision to more focus on academic networking, teaching and research activities among the knowledge hubs and Universities. CEED has a membership from nationally as well as South Asian Countries.
